New at the School: Prof. Dr. Margret Keuper

The School of Business Informatics and Business Mathematics is pleased to welcome Prof. Dr. Margret Keuper as professor for Machine Learning. Below you will find information about Prof. Keuper's research topics and her teaching program.

Margret Keuper joined the University of Mannheim in October 2023 as a Professor for Machine Learning. Before, she was a Professor for Visual Computing at the University of Siegen (2021–2023) and a Juniorprofessor for Image Processing (2017–2021) here in Mannheim. She hold a PhD from the University of Freiburg.

Her research focuses on machine learning with applications in computer vision. In this context, she is interested in the formulation of neural network based frameworks and graph decomposition problems with a wide variety of use-cases ranging from efficient heuristic design for discrete optimization problems to robust neural architecture search. Further, her research interests are on long-standing computer vision tasks such as image classification or segmentation as well as motion estimation, uncertainty assessment and self-supervised learning. She works on a wide range of applications for her research, ranging from, for example, point tracking with particle physics applications to emotion and sentiment analysis in images posted on social media.
