Pursuing a Doctorate at the School of Business Informatics and Mathematics

Students pursuing a doctorate work independently on a research paper with the goal of obtaining and presenting new scientific findings. As a rule, you can begin your doctoral studies after you have completed your master’s or Diplom degree. At the end of your doctoral studies, you will be awarded a doctorate in natural sciences.

At our school, it is possible to pursue your doctorate either as an academic staff member or as an external doctoral student at one of the chairs. Please contact the chair you are interested in directly to establish whether there are free vacancies for academic staff, or if it is possible to pursue your doctoral studies externally.

You also have the option to apply for a structured doctoral program as part of the DFG Research Training Group “Statistical Modeling of Complex Systems”, which is funded by the German Science Foundation.

You can find the requirements for being admitted to the School of Business Informatics and Mathematics as a doctoral student in our regulations and procedures governing the doctoral dissertation.
