Chair of Scientific Computing

The Scientific Computing Research Group (SciCom) belongs to the School of Business Informatics and Mathematics at the University of Mannheim. It was founded in 2011 and directed since then by Prof. Dr. Simone Göttlich.

The research focuses on the mathematical modeling, numerical simulation and optimization of dynamic processes with applications in  

• engineering,
• traffic flow and pedestrian dynamics,       
• energy networks.

The chair is currently involved in the following projects:

• DFG-Project NonLoc: Balance laws with space-dependent nonlocalities: modeling, simulation and uncertainty quantification, 2024–2026
• DFG-Project FlowVC: Extension of the multi-scale-network-model for the virtual commissioning of complex material flow systems, 2023–2025
