DAAD-PPP France: Transport network modeling and analysis

The main scientific objective of the proposed research is the modeling and optimization for traffic flow applications. Typically, these systems are studied in the literature on either a discrete level (using systems of ordinary differential equations or time–recursion formulas) or on a macroscopic level (using a continuum description by partial differential equations). In the current proposal we aim on bridging the discrete and continuous levels by presenting a suitable hierarchy of models with well–defined transitions.

Key words: traffic flow models, micro-macro coupling, optimization
